Awaiting my latest acquisition

Post by vintage_325_guy »

Well, I've finally taken the plunge and picked up a 360/12 V64 on eBay. As I'm a UK resident, I'd given up hope of finding a C63 anytime soon, so the V64 would be just fine!
Unfortunately I've got that awful 3 day wait coming up till it arrives and I'm drooling with anticipation! This will be my first Ric 12, and of course as a Beatles fan, one of my most desired instruments. Looking forward to sitting it next to its 'little brother', my 325 V59.
Will post pics when it arrives.

That's great Peter. Is it coming from the US? I hope our Thanksgiving holiday doesn't delay your shipment. Did you get a Fireglow or a Maple Glow?
Please post some pictures. And congradulations!

Peter, congrats!

You are going to love this instrument!

It has the best "feel" of any Rick 12 IMO; very solid in the hand and sooo easy to play.

Congrats Peter, they both appear to be great pieces.

May I ask the difference between the C vs, V 12 that led you to thinking the C was your first choice?
I'm just happy to be here.

Congratulations, Peter - excellent choice. The V64s are a class act - I have a Jetglo 360/6 V64 and love it!

Enjoy........

Peter: Congratulations. Soon folks will say, you can't do that playing every little thing, anytime at all, eight days a week.
Life, as with music, often requires one to let go of the melody and listen to the rhythm

I don't know why I originally set my sights on the C63. I guess because it's EXACTLY like George's. Having said that, I've seen lots of pics of the V64s and some have had a nicer fireglo on them than lots of C63s I've seen, so.. Besides, the only major difference I'm aware of is the headstock shape. Somebody correct me if I'm wrong.

Well it arrived yesterday. It's a 1993 model and it's absolutely mint. Plays like a dream too - absolutely nails the AHDN album when played through my AC30. Anyway, I've uploaded some pics of her:

The fret markers on the C are greyish in color. The markers on the V are the pearl type. Other than this and the headstock I don't think that there is any other difference. Here's a link that shows the differences.

The TRC on the first 1963 looks a bit golden in color. Poor lighting when photo was taken perhaps?

Perhaps the paint on the 1963 has just yellowed.
