Hey, I was looking for information about vintage Hiwatt amps, and look what I've found... Nice collection, isn't it ?
Enjoy !

Wow cool find JL!

Now that's interesting on the right. All the markings of very early 4001s - walnut wings, toaster, horseshoe, split bridge, dot inlays, and a nice little finger rest - but the body appears to be bounded!

Anybody know what this is?

I wonder who owns those beauties. Great find, Jean.
A Rickenbacker bass is much like the Jaguar E car - perennially ultra-fashionable.

According to what the website says, these basses are part of Mike Lull's private collection.

It,s listed as 64 4001S on a page on this site, along with the 58 and 60 4000,s and a 66 4001...Very nice. I,m pretty certain that is camera reflection on the "S"..These were export models that had none of the deluxe features....supposedly. Good to see an original thumb rest hanging in there too...

I thought those Ric basses and the Hiwatt looked familiar. I've seen them at his shop.

I want a DR405 and two SE4151's with those four basses for Christmas, I'm going to start working on the wife early.

This pic was posted on the HC bass forum a few days ago also. I'd love to get a '57 or '58 4000 one of these days. Image

Yeah, I love those old 4000's with the horse shoes, they sound great too. There's one right now at Gbass for $4000.00 I think it's a 1960, MG.
maybe older it's one of the thick bodied ones.

That bass on the right I've seen identified as a 1964 4001S on some other site related to Rick, can't remember where... But I THINK the mapleglo is an early '57 , then a '66 Jetglo, and a '60 4000 in fireglo. Mike Lull makes some pretty cool basses, I tried one of his J types a few years ago, and it was a tone monster... Now we know where he got some of his ideas;~)
