Thanks John,
Yes I'm back to Rickenbacker... Ya know, I was really disappointed with the issue I had with my 4003, and in a way, anger and disappointment made me say things that went far beyond what I really thought.
My first "real" bass, in 1977, was a 4001. Since then, I hardly could stay without a RIC. I'm 44 now, and I believe it's too late to cure my addiction...

My V63s are my workhorses, I play them at almost every gig I play, the mapleglo one in particular. And yet I still try to baby it. I polish it up before and after gigs, watch it like a hawk while I'm at the gig, and I avoid throwing it around or anything like that...

Sergio,
You're right, I can witness that every time I had no Rickenbacker in my arsenal I was feeling sick.
My new 4003 JG has been shipped yesterday, I long to have it between my hands !
All the best,
JL

Jason, could I ask what you paid for your CS? I'm looking at a '91 today. It is dead and I mean dead mint - case and all. This thing may not have been played ever. I played around with it Thursday night and the only reason I didn't but it then was I expected more out of the neck. This was the very first time I touched a CS. The neck on my '85 V63 is far superior to this neck. The neck on my ’85 is what I expected the CS to have, so from that perspective I’m a little disappointed. The neck on the CS was more like my 97 4003. Other than that, one hell of a bass. The V will still rank as #1 in my book however.
I also played a 4001C64 Thursday and I was even more disappointed with that neck.
You can check out my V63 and almost see how slim that neck is from my pics posted under the thread "pictures of your rick bass" I need to get better with the digital camera!
Cheers,
Andy

I don't know about anyone else but it seems to me that all the necks even on the new 4003's and V63's are a little different, I am pretty sure that they are hand sanded. I have a 96, a 98 and a 2000 4003 and every neck is different, the 2000 is the thickest, the 96 is the thinnest. I had 2 late V63's and I think they were a little on the thick side. my 96 4003 is similiar to a late 70's 4001 neck.
