Crown Radius For Model 480

Post by admin »

My 480 has the flattest surface of any of my Rickenbacker fretboards. It feels like a 16" radius. I do not have a gauge. Does anyone know the radius of the Model 480?
Life, as with music, often requires one to let go of the melody and listen to the rhythm

I checked Melissa's 481 when I restored it. I recall that it was flat.

My 480 is perfectly flat and all of the ones here are too.
No, I don't play the sax.

Guitar neck on my 4080 has a very very subtle arc to it. I would say "near flat."

Mine's totally flat (4080).

So is mine (1979 Azureglo 4080).
A Rickenbacker bass is much like the Jaguar E car - perennially ultra-fashionable.

There's probably a little variation to each board, since the work was most likely all by hand.
Much like the back of the neck, no two will be identical I suspect.

The guitar neck in my 4080 has a flat fingerboard. I believe Paul is right that the 480 is flat too.

I'm surprised at all these flat 4080's. Is there a way to measure the radius?

Both 480's I've had were flat.

If Calista Flockhart were to have her own model, the 480 would be it.

Poor Calista Flockhart. I hear she sings flat too!

Sorry. That was bad. But it's still early.
