Price Check, SVT 8-10 Cab

Post by teeder »

I found a '69-'70 SVT cab with original speakers, no grill or tolex.
The guy wants $100.00 to get it out of his garage.

I wasn't really looking for one, but the price is nice. I should be able to recondition it.
I have a truck to haul it with and my back isn't in too bad of shape! (Yet)Image

Any thoughts?

You didn't take it yet? Where is his garage? I would have had it on the truck before he had a chance to finish the sentence....

Thats a steal. For that vintage, if it is original speakers, it has the great sounding CTS speakers in it too.

Aaarrrggghhh!!!

I went to get it last night and it wasn't what he claimed! A homemade cabinet that did resemble a SVT cab. 8 unidentifiable speakers, and only three of those worked.

He showed a picture of the head and it was a SVT, but certainly not a '69-'70.

Oh well.Image

Too bad, Kevin, maybe you'll have better luck on the next one.

I bought a late 70's SVT cab in perfect operating condition for 200 bucks on ebay, was in the middle of the woods about an hour from me and you can't ship them. Doesn't look too bad either. All the 70's cabs and heads sound good to me. 69's are very rare.

When did you get that Bob? Sounds like a great deal. Did it have CTS speakers in it?

What were they doing with an SVT cabinet in the middle of the woods? Having a seance to try to contact Everett Hull or something? (Ampeg founder long dead) Image
