Why buy the "Love" release?

This DVD has the best sounding "Revolution" ever! Even if the "Medley" kind of stuff is a little disconcerting, the 5.1 audio allows for a wonderful trip in between the layers of these great recordings (and I've been listening for 42 years).
I only have DVD Audio players and this goes right to the analog 5.1 output. I'm going to hook one up digital and see what happens. I think it will sound somewhat different on a standard DVD setup - like DTS.
Way to go George Martin, Giles, and Beatles!

What is the musical passage that is playing in the background in the chorus of Lucy In the Sky with Diamonds, just after the word Diamonds? Its repeated every time... Is it just more Tomorrow Never Knows?

I just love it that George Martin pulled off one final Beatles string arrangement (While My Guitar Gently Weeps) at 81 years old. He can't even hear much anymore, but that arrangement is spot-on, once again. Beatles history is still being made, and we're still here to witness it.

Maybe it's me, but I was disappointed in the mix of Something. It didn't sound good to me (I'm commenting on the DVD 5.1 mix). The guitar and bass sound week to me. Something is one of my favorite Beatles songs.

On the other end of the spectrum, I am the Walrus I thought sounded incredible as does Here Comes the Sun.

I hope when the remaster the catalog they release 5.1 mixes of many of the later albums in particular.

The level of the bass in the mix of "...Mr. Kite" is fantastic. You can really hear the Ricky tone.

Forgetting the overlapping of different songs for the moment, this is the best that the Beatles material will ever sound. Having just returned from vacation, I took about 1/2 hour to go through the DVD audio version and it sounded fantastic. Clean and clear.
Let's hope they do this cleaning and remixing with the "normal" catalog. Man, to hear that music in pristine quality was amazing.
"A Day In The Life" sounded great. I never heard the strings in "Walrus" sound so great. "Sun King" was a waste. I wish "Because" had the music along with the vocals. Guitars shimmered in "Here Comes The Sun" once I got past the indian stuff underneath it.
I still do not like hearing the drums on one channel in "Hey Jude."
Guitar riffs in BITUSSR were mixed a bit too low. Have to listen to the rest of it today. Hey guys, at least be happy we have what little we were given that sounds so good. And once again, it was a revelation hearing that stuff in such sound quality.
I admit, it was a bit startling to hear some things isolated in the 5.1 mix that in the past was "felt" but not "heard."

Yes, I'm pretty much digging the entire concept as well as the execution.

And currently have merely the stereo version. 5.1 should be completely mind blowing.

Another vote for "amazing". I just got it last night, and listened to the whole thing on the bus ride to work this morning...the overall impression I'm left with is "haunting." The clarity, the selection of pieces, the little asides, it just really struck me in that haunting vein--might have had something to do with the dark and rain this AM.

Parts of it put me in mind of that little sequence in "Anthology" where the camera is just panning the empty studio with all their gear, and the soundtrack is the collage of little sidebars and outtakes.

"Johnnie Ryhthm"'s sign-off capped it for me...kudos to the Martin's, Jr. and Sr.

Very glad I picked it up.

The 5.1 remixes of Revolution, I Am The Walrus, and A Day In The Life (the latter mostly unchanged except for the extra clarity, volume and power of the orchestra and final piano chord) are worth the price of the double disk set alone.
