Why have some dealer prices increased?
I was just wondering why some dealers are asking higher prices for some models or different standard colors of the same model($200-$300 more)even though the list price has not increased? Also Rickenbacker lists the upcharge of $100 for a COTY model but dealers seem to tack on alot more($200-$300).
Music dealers in general are getting smarter and have realized they don't have to give away quality goods to sell them.
Also, it's my understanding that one of the major chains is in the process of switching to totally fixed pricing, which the rest of the dealers are likely to follow. That'll go a long way toward keeping the doors open at smaller, independent local dealerships.

I just got a quote for a standard 360-12MG for $1700. This was about $400 to $500 more than what I expected. I bought a 360JG from MF last year for $1099, and now they are asking $1399 for the same guitar.

I hate seeing prices rise as much as all of you, but still take into consideration the price tags on other mfg's guitars and compare the quality of those with Ric's. $1700 seems like a lot for a 360-12, but over 2-3K for another makers "custom shop" or "historic" model and all of the sudden $1700 isn't as much anymore, at least to me.

It may be irksome, Steve, but it's a free market and they are within their rights and ethically correct.

I have taken note that my collection has just increased in value. The ability to sell one has now vastly improved, but the problem is, I never want to sell them, and I can barely stop myself from buying them. The new prices, if anything, are helping to cure my disease.
