Back to the strat.. to quote my dad... "Bullsh*t!" Why not get it like the day he bought it! Oh, wait, you can do that for about 23K cheaper! I'll chip it myself. do they sell beat up Lucille guitars? Hell no! Even BB gets a new one every year.

This is crazy.. 24K for a beat up axe.... Did Clapton beat it up? No... Some dude who came back from eating a Big Mac did... I don't see the point in charging that much for it.. But I bet ya people will buy it just like they bought that $10K Clapton/Cream ES-335.

Oh Oh, what about his Explorer? Most people didn't know that the guy he got it from took a saw and cut the butt off it so it wouldn't fall over when it was leaned against an amp or chair. Maybe Gibson will reproduce this one. The pictures you always see of him and the guitar, he's always got a shirt sleeve and his arm over the end of the guitar so the photo doesn't pickup the missing wood that was lopped off the butt. I had to chuckle when I viewed the link that John Biscuti posted from the Fender Custom shop. It shows the Master Builders standing over the Blackie Strat as though they were Doctors preparing to do great surgery on a dieing patient. Oh the drama when they pulled out a battery powered drill. Can we bring this one back to life? Yeah but it's going to cost and someone will have to pay dearly...
Heh. I remember an ad for Musicman amplifiers wherein Eric is holding a pre-butt tuck explorer.
Maybe we should put together a guitar cosmetic surgery drama for one of the networks. Of course, the likely candidate would be Discovery and, well, I think we would have to have more tattoos and be adding carburetors, chains and chrome everywhere on them. I'm sure they would want us to focus on BC Rich Warlocks, rather than Ricks, but that would be the price of our fame.

"Mark, what you don't see in that M M ad is the top part of the butt of the guitar cause his shirt sleeve is dangling over it to cover up the missing part of the tail."
Sorry. That was just my failing memory furnishing parts of the picture that wasn't there. Great things, these brains. Some days I wish I had one that didn't come from the "Abby something" jar.

What about Clapton ? Did he endorse this ridiculous Blackie replica ? If so, he is as much to blame as Fender. Why would he attach his name to such an offensive publicity stunt ? To some people (not me), he is a legend, so why tarnish that ? I just don't get it. Here's what Fender makes - low to medium priced guitars, and well, I might add. They should stick to what got them here.

Well, here we go again:
My prediction about Gretsch getting in on the act came true!
Only 59 being made (year of his birth? Year of his original 6120?) No price given yet...

Note to all Ric owners: If we get the heavy rains this year as predicted, I will be offering low cost flood damage reclicing to all Forumites. If we get the floods up in Guerneville just North of us, I will take your guitar and toss it upstream in Healdsburg and fish it out down stream in Guerneville. This is a chance to have your lousy shiny guitar beat up on the rocks..scraped, battered and abused (a good name for a punk trio) and as a bonus your electronics will be treated to this custom work and will short causing the sound to cut in and out....the mark of A TRUE RELIC..damage like this would take at least one lifetime..likely more to acomplish..let me help. Relicing of case availible at extra cost. Don't miss out!
Reverb set to stun !!
