I don't know about album, but I heard a hip hop cover of Wonderful Christmas Time today that I certainly could have done without.

The original is bad enough...makes me stay out of department stores between Thanksgiving and New Years'.

Realistically, speaking, I've learned to do my shopping either online or in the brief breaks when that song is NOT playing.

Muzak, indeed.

Just having some fun. It is never serious. Sometimes I find some of the entries bordering on worship, which cracks me up. That's all. It's probably just me.

You're all good guys, and I enjoy the sparing and the conversation.

And, for the record, I was initially responding to David Calderon's post about why are we criticizing. Read my reponse for one possible reason why.

In that same post, I answered your question. The rest emerged from the evolution of the thread.

One thing I do notice about many of the posters here, they have thin skins...not that I'm excluded from that description.

And talk about not being able to take a joke. The Heather mention was in jest.

But it's not like any of you (or are you?) are on a first-name basis with Sir McCartney. He doesn't even know you exist (or does he?) so why get so worked up about another celebrity divorce?

Nonetheless, you're still all good guys, I'd buy you all beer, and I enjoy the conversation.

I think that out-and-out hatred, expressed, is out of place here in any form. Sure, though, is it fun to HINT at it!

Richard, you say that Macca is no God, but rather an "idol". Gave me a chuckle, considering that Idol is commonly taken as being a God substitute, since He appears so infrequently.

Paul is OK, but Heather is a "OLPOC". Yikes, that's scarily hate-filled and I'd rather not read it.

Paul, after getting hisself landed by rich trust-funded girl/dilettante photographer with her own agenda, finds himself and her sainted by fans and detested by non-fans. Lives a "what-the-heck, we're-rich", sweet, smoke-clouded life far above the madding crowd, producing music that is loved by fans and hated by others; arrested by humorless Asian non-fans, she publishes veg cookbook, thereby becoming Brit-spirited, passes away, mourned by fans, still resented by others.

He is lonely (who wouldn't be: he had mom/ lover/partner rolled into one; she passed too early for him), ends up on hook with hooker (that's a fact, not hate). Damned fool never has her checked out. She's nasty as they come; he's naive and is paying the price now. Personally, I think he was "in lust" and too cheap to hire a private eye himself and too controlling to let someone else do it. No fool like an old fool.

Quite the oppo of "When I'm 64."

I used to live in Richmond way back in 1969, in the PMQ's on the military base. That part is now an airport landing strip.

Yes, the beer sounds good.

Heather kinds makes one miss Linda, doesn't she.

Gentlemen, I apologize. Especially to you Mick. You guys are right I need to take things more lightly. I did say Paul was my idol in my "Music" world, not in my "faith" world. I also apologize if my "OLPOC" comment was strong. No hard feelings guys. You both have great points, she is a hooker and we all miss Linda.

Sorry David, I know you expect better from me.
You guys can buy beer for me anytime! LOL

All is cool. I enjoy the debate. It forces me to re-examine my own position on things.

I could never miss Linda. And I've never even heard her infamous Hey Jude vocal.

Indeed David, I feel nothing is shocking anymore.

Glenn, I believe your thinking of the high harmonies on Let it Be

As forums go, I think this one does a good job of not going overboard on emotion. It only happens here and there from what I've read.

Posting on the internet is kind of like driving---you don't really know the other drivers (and I know many of you DO know each other, okay), so it's easy to get enraged by an aggressive maneuver. It happens.

But my hat's off to you folks...you patch things up in admirable Beatles-like Give Peace a Chance fashion.

Let's hope our government can do the same.

Amen Mark, your batting 1000 with that post. And I certainly hope that does not include all of "London Town." Image

If Elton was not some long over the hill star who'd put out 20 years of albums the public has generally ignored (i.e. people took what he said today as having more sway over more people, particularly youth) then I'm not so sure what he said about religion could pass so easily, even today.

That isn't to say the world hasn't changed hugely in this respect. Perhaps today the older generation is more concerned with younger pop stars who turn up in photos where they're not wearing underwear.
