We Three Kings

Post by admin »

What guitars and amplifier will you take to your next gig?

These two guitars compliment one another with regard to tone and look. A 2003 Rickenbacker Model 1993 SPC and a 2003 Fender Nashville MIM Tele. They both sound great through this 1993 JCM 900.

Paul, is the Tele a three colour or two colour burst?

If I were a guitar player I would get a VHT bulldog amp ... they are a lot better than a marshall or a Fender ... for a guitars I would have a 650D and a Gibson SG ...

But Since I am a bass player I take an ampeg b2r with 4 10" eminence speakers and I select 2 from my 13 5 string basses ...

Jeff: Love the basses and I am feeling quite at home with the carpet. I can't argue with your selection of basses or amplifier.

Greg: Your Rickenbacker and Fender compliment one another nicely. I love the pose.

Tomorrow, it'll be my 4003v68 and my old Peavey POS 1x15 combo. I swear this thing is on it's last leg.

Peter, LOVE the SPC. Nice Tele too.

Jeff, the VHT has it's place, but to say it's *better* than a Fender amp? It'll never sound like a Twin Reverb, or a Vibrolux.

Peter, it appears to me that the Tele is a three-tone burst, as is mine. I like the pickguard.

Peter,

Just so you don't have to adjust the pic above (LOL) here's my Tele which is just like RC's but it is the right way round.

I agree that yours is a three tone burst.

Cool stuff everybody.

Jeff: That rug really ties the room together. Are you sure your last name isn't Lebowski?

RC: One of these days we'll have to teach you to post pictures the RIGHT way.

Well, as for me, I guess I'll let the cat out of the bag. I've co-formed a band with four other dudes. We have an electric lap steel, 6-str fretless bass, bongos/congas/djembe/cymbals, and alto/tenor saxophonist. I'm playing guitar, and several of us are trading off lead and backup vocals. We have learned Pink Floyd's "Dark Side of the Moon" in its entirety and will be performing it outside of the house very soon, hopefully. We started off calling the band "Rhymes With Orange" and were playing covers, then transitioned into this new concept and we're calling it "Dark Slide of the Moon." Our logo will be the album cover but with a glass guitar slide instead of the triangular prism.

Oops! Almost forgot the guitars! I can't play Strats due to the knob placement (my hand whacks it every time) so I'm rocking the 380L PZ and the 360/12v64 through several effects pedals. But I just received my J DOG signature edition pickguard yesterday (awesome) for the 330/12JD so once I get that guitar back to the sunshine state it might replace the v64.

Chris, for which guitar? ;)

I've had the strat for over 20 years, so I don't remember where I got the parts when I did the switch to all black, but I don't think they're very hard to find.

From the photos, Peter, yours is a three-tone burst.

I hasten to add that in photographing a two-tone burst of certain colors, a digital camera will often "add" a third shade at the transition are between the two colors.

Here's my 2 current stage axes (sorry, the Rick basses on are a temporary hiatus from stage work!)
2003 MIA P Bass in Inca Silver. I can't tell you how much I love this bass! Recently got it & can't put it down!

Also in the background you'll see my G&L ASAT as well as my Ampeg B100R.

Lotsa folks say the B100Rs aren't good stage amps.
Well, I don't play huge rooms anymore & there's this miraculous concept known as "micing your amp thru the PA".

Works wonders & sounds great!

Chris, that's a great looking P Bass. A Fen*er P bass is next on my GAS list. I already own a 4001 and a 4003 so I have all the Rick basses that I need for now. That is unless a 4005 falls into my lap.
