Just snagged this ‘S’. I am really getting into my F****r Jazz at the moment and am getting used to no body and neck binding. Hope this will give me the same sort of feel. I was going to get a V63 and take out the horseshoe, but then I thought that would be silly and more costly. Will report back when this baby arrives.

Hey Bob,

Congratulations!

Seems like you're not alone, a few of these "S" basses have been getting snapped up by people here on the forum.

Bob, you will love it! Nice finish. I just got a similar one, about the same price, in azureglo. Even if it's a set neck, the sound & feel are great.

Congrats Bob. I was tempted by that one, but I already have too many Ricks! How can you go wrong with a Burgundy S? Dis-connect the cap and I think you'll have a bass that you like more than a V63(I know how much you like your '72's neck).

Glad to this this beaut end up with a Forumite.

Congrats Bob! Those set neck 4001S basses play and sound great. They definitely sound like a Rick.

Thanks Guys, can't wait!

How could I forget to mention Jeff Scott in all this..... He very kindly had agreed to let me ship the bass to him and then get it over to me in the UK. The seller then decided that he would ship to me after all.

A BIG THANKS to Jeff.

Welcome to the "S" club Bob! I love my '82 jetglo 4001S, purchased new in 1984. I *finally* waxed it last night with Turtle Wax car polish based on recommendation from John Hall. It's in the older wood case and smells nice now too with the wax. It was in storage for many years, but I started getting it out again in early 2006. I won't make the "no wax" mistake again, as there is a little bit of sweat damage to the conversion varnish where my right hand sits. I was also young then (22) and didn't do a good wipe down.
