Fender Pro 300

Post by rob »

I am seriously considering buying a Fender Pro 300 head amp. In my opinion, it looks comparable to an Ampeg SVT, but at a smaller price. Anyone use one of these? Suggestions?

Rob, I had the Fender 300 Pro in a combo with a 15" speaker, the thing was a nice combo, WAY loud. Wish I still had it.

If the price is right, that amp should be really nice. I only know about it from the Fender Amps 50 Years book, but it seems like it should be as good as some SWR heads as far as features go, I don't know about sound however.

My local GC said they can order it for me for $1099. That's the only thing; I don't care too much for ordering. I normally like seeing before buying. But, this seems like a special order only item. No store I had called said they had one in stock.

I think you are refering to a different amp than the one I am thinking of that Fender made in the '80s.

Does anyone know of someone selling one used? It seems to me that these are very rare. No one has one in stock and almost never comes up on Ebay. I'd like to know how much they go for used.

Hi Robert, I did an A/B on the 300/610 vs an Ampeg SVT/810 and thought it held it's own and offered a little more attack. I went with the SVT as I was looking for a warmer more traditional sound for a country gig I was doing.

After moving the SVT around a few times I wish I had picked the Fender. It's lighter, smaller and half the price. Never used one in battle but she sounded great in the store.

If you are still looking, you may want to give Huber & Breese music a call as I believe they have one on the floor. Call and ask for Mike at 586-294-3950. Mike is the go to guy for bass players.

Good luck!
I'm just happy to be here.
