Mike Rutherford's Doublenecks - New Pics

Post by jon »

As some of you probably know, Genesis are due to be touring next year and one of the people who has been working with them has kindly taken some photographs of the old gear at The Farm including the Ric-containing doublenecks. I thought some of you might like to see them.

There always seems to be a Dale holding a cool old Ric...

Thanks Jon;

That double neck looks a lot different than it did from 73.

Are all those pickups on the Micro-Frets guitar realy necessary? Seems like a mindless 70's hack-up job to me.

Let's see: two toasters, two PAF's, two p-90's, and a Wide-Range humbucker. Sheesh!

Dave's right. Those instruments are NOT like they were in the mid 70s. Looks like pickup changes, pickguard changes too.

Strange. I'm not sure why they would have been modified after they were retired from active service.

The sound hole used to be bound. New pick guards.
The fifth knob is now missing

"I can't help it . . . it's sooooo beautifuuuuuuuuul . . ."

The bottom one on the Microfrets doubleneck is actually a 6-string bass, so I guess he added the humbucker so he could play it like a P-bass as well. The top one is a Ric/Gibson, then, considering the PAF humbuckers and the stock Ric pickups.

But I love them BOTH.

I agree, those are great as they are.

For anyone who's interested, Squids gives some info on his visit to The Farm on the Genesis Forum:
