Awesome, Aitch!

Glad I finally had time to check in here and see the pics! ....And glad it went so well for you! Live gigs are so much fun! Wish we could've been there to see it! Image

The Ballarat here Jeffrey is about 120 kms from Melbourne, and a very thriving and historic little town! Still i'd have preferred to be watching Aitch do his thing!

Good one, Aitch! Now I bet you've gotta habit, eh?

Outdoor party gigs, for some reason, feel much...freer...than indoor gigs. Glad you had a good time!!!

Thanks for the good vibes, everyone! I doubt that I'll get a regular gig out of this one - more than likely the same deal next year, though.

The guys all wanted my phone number because they all play in different bands, so something may come out of it. Not exactly holding my breath, though!! Image

Regular jams with fellow forumite Ron Viney and the 'Melbourne Rick Club' gatherings with Darren, Greg and Ron - and hopefully the recent additions to the forum - are heaps of fun and are more than enough for me at present.

I'll be a definite starter for Weekend Warriors in the New Year! Image

ROCK OUT LIKE MOTORHEAD, DUDE!Image

I heard that they installed the fencing at the front of the stage to stop the onslaught of groupies chasing after you Aitch!

I'm glad you had so much mate! Image

That's it, Darren! They couldn't find the chicken wire from last year's gig!! Image

One thing to note is: be very careful if you invite tipsy people on stage to join in with the vocals. One girl was pretty pi**ed and fell over backwards, just missing my 620 on a stand and a very expensive Yamaha keyboard. The drummer wasn't so lucky.... one of his cymbal stands got mangled - 120 bucks worth!

Ouch! Well, better a cymbal stand than a guitar!
When drink & gear mix, the drink always comes out on top (sometimes literally).

On the bright side, it sounds like you're gonna get some shots at sittin' in some of those bands.
Always great fun & good experience in broadening your spectrum.
Sounds as though you've already got it pretty well down.
Plus five minus five!

Trust you to think that way, Pete!! Image

We'll see what happens, Kevin. I don't want to be pushy on it.... if they want me to play they'll call.

Another thing to take into account: when you're a guest player it's good form to help set up and pack up - even if it's just lugging gear up and down stairs. No good just setting up and picking up your own gear and disappearing. Plus, you get to have a few beers with the band (and the chicks) afterwards and get to know them better. Image

It sure is, Shane!!

Don't know about the 'Rock Star' bit, though. I'm just a grey-haired old f*rt having some fun and testing his abilities with more experienced musicians outside the 'lounge room comfort zone'. Image

Just got back from my trip to see the outlaws - see I told you it would go well for you, good on you for not piking it at the last minute. I'll bet you were so high on adrenaline that you forgot to have a celebratory beer after the first bracket! Image

Good on you Howard, these shows are so much more fun when you get to sit in and have a go, rather than wishing you could get get a chance to join in.

Our weekend jams are going to seem pretty tame now that you've hit the bit time LOL. Just so pleased it went as we knew it would - well done!

Thanks very much, Ron. It was a real high. As a matter of fact I drank more than I planned to - both before and during the gig - but it didn't have any real effect, which surprised me. I guess a few cans before and one in each break is possible.

Our jams will be more fun, my friend. What with new songs to get stuck into and my increased confidence, I'm sure I can completely bugger them all up! LOL!! Image

Talk to you tonight.......
