I pulled the trigger and bought the last new 620/12 Jetglo on the planet. It has the cut out head. Ed Romans guitars sold me their last one(at least that's what they tell me). I am also having them add the ultra 12 string bridge. No charge to install. Which includes notching the saddles. It wont ship until Tuesday because of the modification.

Eric, I'm interested in that bridge for my '05 360/12. Please let me(us) know how it works out for you. I've got the RIC 12-saddle on my '86 620/12 (had to turn it around for tuning clearance and cut down an allen wrench to adjust it) and it makes a lot of difference. Roman talks theirs up a lot. I want to know if it's worth the added expense over the RIC part. Mike

I will let you know but I am not sure how I will be able to compare it. I do have a 360/12 with the 6 string bridge and can compare it to that. I am not sure that will help. The main reason I decided to get it was the fact that they install in for free since I bought the guitar there. I also thought it may mellow the high gains.

What I'm really interested in is: Does it change the "Jangly" nature of the output sound because of the delrin saddles instead of steel? You may notice a difference between it and the steel-saddle "sound". I know that you'll like the 12-saddle tunability. Also, some close-ups of the Roman product would be nice. Thanks, Mike

Got ya. I not sure now because I put 6 ohm toasters in my 360/12 and now it sounds like an acoustic 12. I hoping also that they don't scratch up the guitar installing it. They are also putting on new strings and don't have rics so they will put together a set to match. I will probably end up changing strings right away. Maybe I should send them one of my sets.

Ed loves to push these bridges, but they are really quite inferior to the RIC 12-saddle bridge. The idea of taking a heavy die-cast bridge and fitting it with Delrin saddles makes no sense, in terms of sustain.

My gut feeling would be to stick with the RIC bridge. My only experience with plastic saddles is with my 1967 Gibson ES-335TDC, which has nylon saddles; I always have felt that they tend to 'mellow out' the tone.

I am going to call them first thing and ask if they have the Ric part. If they dont I just going to get the guitar and save $140.

I'll bet you two things:

1. Ed doesn't have the Rick part (or will claim he doesn't);

2. You will be happy when you fit the RIC part.

But, really, the intonation with the stock 6-saddle bridge and recommended RIC strings is fine for most folks...
