Every time UPS leaves a package on the porch it's Russian Roulette..so far I've been lucky. Let's everybody that does ebay put in a bidder alert so whenever that model goes up for auction we get notified....hope for the best for ya Jon!

Wow, of all basses to have AWOL.
Sorry to hear that Jon. I'll keep my eyes open. Hopefully it will turn up.

I never had a problem with UPS, but I do know my driver, and he lives up the street. Lucky for me I guess.
Anything that needs a signature I have delivered at work.

Good luck !!!

Thanks everyone.

It was to be delivered to the Riva, Maryland area. I'm thinking that perhaps it was stolen by the driver. The regular driver for that route was sick that day. A temp driver filled in. He's the idiot who claimed to have delivered it and didn't get a signature.

I wonder if he delivered it to the trunk of his car, or dropped it off somewhere that he could come back after hours to pick it up.

Please keep your eyes open for it. Serial MD-1582

Thx.

Just curious. Will UPS report this to the police if they believe it may be the driver, or can you?
Will there be more of an investigation done by UPS?

This is close to my neighborhood. Will keep eyes open when I'm browsing, especially the "We Buy Used Gear" dealers.

Keeripes! That's horrible news. File a police report so WHEN someone here finds it in a store, you'll have no problems getting it back.

FWIW, I also ship ONLY Fedex and also I prefer to ship to my work address so I know there's no chance of it being left on my front porch.

****! That is one of the coolest and well known 73's out there. The turd that stole it is going to have to keep it in his dark basement the rest of his miserable life.

I hope it pop's up for sale around here. I would love to meet the turd and discuss medical insurance coverage limits.

Good luck Jon, I think we can make the dope regret crawling out from his rock.

Keep an eye on Craig's list etc. A local sale would be more likely.

One a fool would put it back on eBay...

That's really rotten, Jon! I sincerely hope it turns up and any felons dealt with. A mere slap on the wrist wouldn't be good enough..........

For the record, I've never had a problem with UPS but I suppose international shipments might be a different kettle of fish. Always delivered to my workplace, BTW.

It's a long shot, but have you checked the houses right around you? I had UPS deliver a Ric to my next door neighbor's--just left it there in the doorway and showed it delivered to me.

Hope it works out for you--

Hey Jon! Why not put a blurb on the RIC forum?

If enough people are looking for this bass it might just turn up.

FedEx Ground will no longer insure pre-1986 musical instruments for more than $100:

This does not apply to any of their over-night/expidited services, only to FedEx Ground.

Geesh, then what recourse does one have when shipping said instruments?

When I purchased my 360-12 from Rudy's in NYC this past January, I was stressed about it getting up to me in Toronto.

I can't recall which shipper he suggested (I'm at work right now), but he was adamant that they only use the best, and they've had very few problems over the years.

The guitar was purchased on a Thursday morning, I flew home on Friday afternoon...and the guitar had already been sent to my house by the time I limped home late Friday afternoon.

My first instinct was to panic when I saw the sheet of paper taped to my front door. Where the heck did they leave my guitar!

Luckily, the firm took it back to their warehouse, out near the airport. Picked it up that night. All was well.

But what is one's recourse if it hadn't been?
This is not good.

Hope you find that bass. It is a disturbing story.
How much!?!
