I've got three old SVT set ups, 2 from the 70's and one skunkworks 1987 head with 70's cab. Yeah they weigh a ton but I've been lugging them for 30 years now and wouldn't switch to anything else and like anything else they have volume controls which go down as well as up, if you use them right you won't kill anyone and you'll get the best tone going IMHO. Incidently I have a 95 Buick Roadmaster station wagon for a 2nd car just to lug these beasts. It's like driving a Cadillac station wagon, love it.
I had a picture of two of them in here about three years ago, two of the 70's heads and cabs are identical, really look cool together but there's really no need except for maybe an outside gig.

As I said before, its got to be an SVT3 head power to weight ratio wise, with Svt115 and Svt410.Somehow this rig got through the Strategic Arms Limitation Treaty.Oh and throw in a Volvo V70 Estate.Volvo estates are the most bass player friendly cars ever built and they go like s*** off a shovel even with 2 8x10s!
Too many basses is an oxymoron
And all those valves to replace!
Ive only just sorted out the Christmas tree lights!
I used to have large cabs but now I prefer the option of stacking smaller ones.
I do like the sound of the SVT2 cranked up so I might go that way but hey,I could buy another Rick for the money.
Last gig of the year tomorrow CS and V63 freshly strung for a good spanking.
Merry Christmas guys.

I am using an SVT-3Pro with two Avatar cabs (2-10 & 1-15). Strange thing I've noticed is that my Ricks seem to overdrive the preamp, I almost HAVE to use the -15db to get a clean sound at stage volume. I don't seem to have this issue with other basses, even with active pickups. Anyone else notice this? It happens with my '73 4001 and my 90s 4003s/5s, I don't really gig with the CS as the prices these things are going for gives me panic attacks thinking about dings. I've been pondering picking up the B2RE instead, as I'm wondering if aging tubes could be the culprit.
I'm running the B2RE with Ampeg cabs, 2X10 and 1X15. It's perfect for what I'm doing.
If I ever down size, I'll be going this route though.
