Denis Payton Dies

Sad news, but Denis Payton has taken his saxophone to heaven.
Life, as with music, often requires one to let go of the melody and listen to the rhythm

Sad to hear; he contributed so strongly to the DC5 signature sound.

Big bumer! Too bad as I believe that they will be inducted this next year. It would have been great to see them all despite the fact that Mike can probably never play again. When the Beatles came to LA in 1964 the concert was sold out in minutes. My mom then let us buy tickets for the Dave Clark Five at the Long Beach Arena. That was my first concert.

They were a great band and actually for me this made me like them less back then but they always sounded the most "American" out of all the British Invasion bands to me and I think a large part of that was the sax along with the fact that they played straight ahead rock for the most part. Always loved "Anyway you want it".
