Blue Burst 4003

Post by blueflint »

OK, I've had a JetGlo 4003 on order for the better part of the year ... and nothing ... so I go into my local shop, and as I'm standing there inquiring when my bass will be in ... a guy puts a "just received" brand new Blue Burst 4003 on the rack. It just arrived and was not ordered for anyone specific. (all eyes in the store were on it) I can't tell you how my feet felt, as though cemented to the floor, as I tried to get to it before anyone else (and I did). Talk about going into the shop at the right time. Needless to say, I bought it. I have finally joined the brotherhood ... my poor P Bass will surely collect dust (not that it's a bad instrument, it's just not a Ric). Although I originally ordered a JetGlo, I love the color of this thing ... it is stunning! Just thought I'd share this story with all of you who obliviously care. However my question is: does anyone know how many 4003 blue bursts will be produced in total. Cheers.

Hi John. Welcome to the forum, and congrats on your new baby! The Blue Burst is a beautiful color. If I didn't have an anniversary edition 4003 on order I'd want a Blue Burst.

Have fun with it!

Damn...I've been lusting for a blueburst 4003...congrats. Sometimes you just walk in at the right time. Kinda like when I walked into the pawn shop and found my 1979 4001. I took that one home for $180! By the way, I just put some DR high beams on. I like those strings!

Welcome John! RIC is not in the habit of releasing production figures so we will never really know, but that does not matter one bit in the end.

John, seeing as they were only made for one year, the color will surely be more limited than a Jetglo or anything like that...maybe a couple thousand or so? I have no idea how many basses RIC makes in any given year. I had a 4003 BBR and loved it, congrats to you!

John, another thing.....since you are new to the forum....many forumites decide to sell off their prized Rickenbackers to other forumites for less than half market value as kind of a "sacrifical lamb" so to speak. Especially at this time of year when discrectionary funds are at lows.

So enjoy your bass for a few more days then.....Image

Congratulations John,

You obviously are a man of good taste!

Enjoy!

Javier: If you like them already, you will LOVE them in about a week! The really settle in nicely, I'm hooked on them.

Congrats and welcome to the Forum! Blueburst is a nice color. I was considering Blueburst until the Amber Fireglo was announced.

PS. Classic Axe in Gainesville, VA has a Blueburst in stock.

Welcome! You are a lucky fellow.
Hold on to that BBR, they're already selling for more than their original price.
