What's What On "Love"?
How about we challenge some of the better ears out there to reveal which musical passages are playing on some of the more obscure mixes on the Beatles' "Love" album?
Here's one for starters:
On "Lady Madonna" the song switches to the "Hey Bulldog" lick for a while, then it comes back to the Lady Madonna bridge with a lead solo playing over it.
Where did that lead solo come from?

all this is from a person named Doug on another forum.
1 Because / (sound effects)
Notes: Birds. Flies. Wind. This doesn't seem to relate at all to any released Beatles recording.
2. A Day in The Life / A Hard Day's Night / audience sounds / The End / Sgt. Pepper's (audience) / A Day In The Life / Get Back
Notes: I'm not sure where the audience sounds are from. They're too laid back to be lifted from the "Hollywood Bowl" concert, but don't seem to match the "Sgt. Pepper" effects either.
3. Glass Onion / Hello, Goodbye ("oh oo" vocals) / Things We Said Today (triplet acoustic guitar) / Magical Mystery Tour (chorus brass) / Penny Lane (solo trumpet) / Only A Northern Song (sound effects)
4. Eleanor Rigby / Julia
5. I Am The Walrus
6. I Want To Hold Your Hand (studio) / I Want To Hold Your Hand (Hollywood Bowl)
7. Drive My Car / Savoy Truffle (brass) / The Word / What You're Doing
8. Sun King
9. Something
10. Blue Jay Way / Good Morning Good Morning (sound effects) / Being For The Benefit Of Mr. Kite / I Want You (She's So Heavy) / Helter Skelter
11. Help!
12. Blackbird / Yesterday
13. Strawberry Fields Forever / Penny Lane (ahh's) / In My Life (piano solo) / I'm Only Sleeping (backwards lead guitar) / Penny Lane (horns) / Sgt. Pepper / Piggies / Hello, Goodbye (coda)
14. Within You Without You / Tomorrow Never Knows
15. Tomorrow Never Knows / Lucy In The Sky With Diamonds / Sgt. Pepper's Lonely Hearts Club Band (horns)
16. Good Night / Octopus's Garden / Yellow Submarine (voices) / Polythene Pam (comments) / Sun King
17. Lady Madonna / Why Don't We Do It In The Road (drums) / The End (piano notes) / Hey Bulldog / I Want You (She's So Heavy) (organ solo) / While My Guitar Gently Weeps (guitar solo)
18. Here Comes The Sun / Oh Darling (vocal harmonies) / The Inner Light / Within You Without You (tabla and delrouba)
19. Come Together / Dear Prudence / Cry Baby Cry / Can You Take Me Back / Eleanor Rigby (strings) / A Day In The Life (strings)
20. Revolution
21. Back In The U.S.S.R.
22. While My Guitar Gently Weeps
23. A Day In The Life
24. Hey Jude (bass-line moved form end to middle of song)
25. Sgt. Pepper's Lonely Hearts Club Band (Reprise)
26. All You Need Is Love / 1965 Christmas Record

Aha! The lead solo was Clapton.
Okay, but there are more subtle contributions involved than the one's on Dougslist, including several unmentioned songs on the last track. Try this one...what is the background overdub on Lucy in the Sky With Diamonds, just after the word Diamonds?

I just got it and had time only to listen to about 1/3 of it. First, sonically this is a great recording. Everyone knows the original CD mixes left something to be desired, particularly after some other bands from that ers have remixed their stuff (Stones, SACD remixes from ABKCO or some Who stuff). The Beatles catalog on CD with just a few exceptions sounded in need of a more modern faceleft.
As far as the "mashups" or whatever they are called are concerned I enjoyed them so far. Yes it will be fun to decipher. But the greatest pleasure will be to listen to this new material from a different perspective.
I am sure there will be critics. Some will not like messing with the holy cannon. Others more attuned to the whole idea of sampling and mashups will think they don't go far enough. But for someone with every bit of Beatles music embedded in his brain this is great stuff

I think the cd is fun, but I don't see myself ever playing it more than a couple of times.
I didn't notice any of the clapton solo, I'll have to check that out.
I saw it in Vegas a few days ago. It's a fun show. The sound is really great, but it all seems to come from center, not a lot of surround info, but some. Again the sound at the show was awesome.
