Hondo

Post by rickde »

Does anyone remember these basses? My first bass was a Hondo Ric Ripoff. Do any of your remember these? I got rid of that thing a loooong time ago because for some reason it never stayed in tune. If you have a pic of one I would like to see it again.

Not a bass, but I still have a Hondo Strat copy. I've got my old Roland Guitar-to-MIDI pickup on it!

I didn't realize Hondo made anything except acoustics. What a world!

The guitarist I'm in a band with plays a Hondo Dano Longhorn copy on the songs on which he uses alternate tunings. His Les Paul is a much nicer guitar ...
My basses are Rickenbackers. My synthesizers and recording gear are analog.

I used to own a Hondo Longhorn bass. It was OK. Anyone wanting a longhorn bass with a full-scale neck might check one out, if they can find one.
I also had a Hondo 8-string bass. It was not so good.

I used to have a Hondo Ric copy. They did do a good job on mimmicking the Fireglo finish, colorwise.

For some reason, I chose to take all the parts off and kept most of them. The neck and body I sold back to the store I bought it from for five bucks!!!
A few days later, my friend's friend bought it for 10 bucks, and thought it was a real Rickenbacker!!!
Little did he know that if he looked inside the pickup cavity, he'd see it's plywood!!!
I sure hope he didn't buy authentic Ric parts and sold it for a real Ric, which he thought he had.

I've got a Hondo 5 string banjo that plays pretty well.
