I've got 'em, too...they've been out for quite awhile...

Where else you gonna find The Electric Prunes?

Have I mentioned that The Electric Prunes are my friends on my space? Rhino has some cool stuff...been spinning their History of East LA Rock disc recently..Little Willie G and Thee Midnighters etc..My friend Steve and I are going to talk with Rhino about a possible project featuring the music of Korla Pandit. http://www.korlapandit.com . hmm now that I think of it Rhino is a friend of mine on my space also..I may be a groupie!

Back in the 1990s, I subscribed to Time-Life's mail-order CDs of rock music from the 1960s, and it had a few Electric Prune pieces in it. The series ran only from 1964, though. I guess earlier 60s tunes were on some other mail-order collection. Trivia: Kenny Loggins was briefly a "Prune" on tour before he made it big in 1971.

During the mid-80's, I managed to cobble together the entire set that Rhino released on vinyl.

Great stuff! But so were most of the Pebbles, and Boulders series.

I've been collecting rare British psych and freakbeat recording for many years. One of these compilations reference Pebbles and Boulders by calling themselves the Rubble series!

A couple of my bands records (Meddy's People were originally released by Quality Records) from the mid 60's are on the Pebbles and Boulders series. I have no idea how they got added without permission, but they did.

Hi Mick,

I know for sure that "Sha La La La Lee" is on Boulders 9. I am not sure what volume "Fantasy World" is on.

"Sha La La La Lee" is also on the Moxie set, which I believe are affiliated.

Thanks. I don't have all the Boulders and Pebbles and rocks and stones and you name it, but I used to buy whatever ones would pop up.

Will check when I get home.

Were you pleased to find your band on such a comp, or were you slightly peeved? Or both?

I'd think is was quite the honour to have that happen...but if someone was making money off it, that would change things.

(Not that people made probably any money off such compilations like Pebbles and Boulders).

Mick,

I was slightly peeved at not being asked for permission but also happy that someone at least remembered us.

Several friends of mine from Peru have one of their old 60's bands on Nuggets II "We Are All Together" and they are not real happy about it, would have liked a little dough to go along with the honor, they were never contacted either and just found out because I found a bootleg of it in a store in Peru one day.
