V63 Question
I've really been into my V63 since I removed the horseshoes. I was wondering though,,,do the V63's have the cap or not?
Just curious.
My V has very deep bottom end with crisp highs, but not much in mids. Whereas the 4003's I have seem to be more "balanced" throughout the spectrum.
Maybe its just the toaster \ horseshoe combination ?

I have read that the v63's don't have the cap.
My v63 did not sound as hot and trebly as my c64S does now. It also had a weaker toaster, and much more bass from the horsehoe. I bought it from GC in 2000, but it was a '98, so who knows what kind of abuse it had taken there. I'm sure mine didn't have a cap anyway.

According to Rickenbacker's website, the v63 doesn't have the cap (diagram) and the C64 has it (C3 in this diagram).

Interesting that the C64 drawing is dated 1990 and the V63 1993.

Hey Jim,
Here's another FG V63 in case you need another!

A little pricey, and what's with the "original soft case"?

Scott, I think it's just the horseshoe/toaster combo. My CS (and old V63 for that matter) were the same when compared to a friend's 4003; as I posted recently I lent him my CS at a gig and he played both that and his 4003 and the 4003 seemed to have quite a bit more in the mids.
