Soldier of Love would have been a great cover for With the Beatles. There are so many old rock warhorses on With the Beatles - I get tired of hearing Roll Over Beethoven, Money, and Please Mr. Postman no matter how good the version is or who it's by. I prefer Please Please Me's assortment of more obscure covers. Just my opinion.
I've got an Arthur Alexander album. He wrote some pretty good songs! Anna, Soldier of Love, You Better Move On, Shot of Rhythm and Blues... and he had a great voice, too.

Lennon was a huge fan of Arthur Alexanders! The Beatles played several of his songs. There is a great video of The Beatles playing "Soldier of Love" on "Ready, Steady, Go!" Another largely Beatles influenced artist was Larry Williams. The Beatles recorded many of his songs "Bad Boy" "Dizzy Miss Lizzie" "Slow Down" and "Bony Moroney" (John Lennon). This is a 50s artist that has gotten lost in R&R history!
Leprosy is rare & scarce but nobody wants that!
Now that you mention it Michael, I did notice that the video and the music were out of sync.
Interesting "fab"rication.
