Yeah, that's it. I don't think I've seen the shot of the guy play it before.

Ok, I'm lost - who owns the one just above with the neck pup next to the maple fretboard that Jared always posts?

John, the one in the picture just above, is the one from the RIC museum, that we saw used by a few bassists at the MOMM and the HOB. That picture is from the MOMM. I think Jeffrey Scott took it just before Marty Wilson Piper and the Electic Moon Maidens came out to perform.

I think that one is a pic that Jared snatched off a site on the internet...ebay possibly?
Jared doesn't go to bed at night without looking at that picture and praying that a quilted Cii just like that one comes his way. Image

was for sale, But I was sent this instead:

Nice, but not quite the same.

They were real pros and took care of it right away.

But no more quilt...Image

The more of these I see the more I like them. Those quilted ones are stunning.

Where does quilted wood come from? I know a lot of guitars advertise birds eye maple, quilted, or flame. Do these grow on different trees and are they really that much harder to get?

I would like a little more obvious difference between the Ciis and Ls, I think (such as in the picture two posts above), simply because there is a bit of a price difference and there has to be some reason to maintain the Cii line. Since maple is still on the outside of both versions of the 4004, the biggest difference (to my untrained eye) is the availability of the translucent colors (and the gold option, like the difference between a 650D and S).

I vote for the quilted tops!

Looking at the PotR Cii Monty is not a good indication that "Charactered Maple" will remain in the Cii's description very much longer.

One of the plainest Ciis I've seen...not good at the price difference.

It looks like Mike Parks at the Music Connection is expecting to get two used 4004Cii basses, a Blue Boy and a Mapleglo.
