My son's Christmas present

Post by teeder »

Daniel's wanted a "real" guitar for a while so I put together a Fender Duo-Sonic this year. It's from pieces I bought on eBay; a 1963 neck, 1961 body, and switch. Then I had my brother finish and assemble it. He made the pickguard and put in S/D strat pu's. It really screams with the two pu's in series.

He loves it and made me teach him how to play Smoke on the Water. Image

Great to have children interested in music.

My daughter got a Baby Taylor a few years ago. She learned the trumpet this year.
So for Christmas she got a BAGPIPE practice chanter and a melodica.

My son, well, he got a foghorn (I swear it!).

Very, very nice, Kevin. What I would (or wouldn't) have done to have something like that at his age!

So, Peter..... have you installed the optional 'cone of silence'? Image

Pardon Howard, you'll have to speak up as all that I can hear is a loud ringing in my ears! Image

Thanks Howard! I wanted him to have something that he didn't have to fight with.

Still a little early to tell, but all indications are my Daughter likes guitars too. Of course she's only 14 months old! Image

Noel,

Gotta' have some interesting sounds coming from your house! Image

Well, I told myself I wasn't going to give myself anything for Christmas. But I lied......

A Martin DCX1KE - spruce top with koa back and sides. Bottom end of the Martin range, I know, but it is a sensational guitar to play.

And when they throw in a moulded case, a set of Martin custom lights and knock $700 off the price, who am I to say "no"??? Image

It was probably discounted because it has a big chunk missing from one corner of the body. Didn't you notice that, Howard?

Always loved the classic looks of a Custom.
