Wishbone Ash

Post by beatlefreak »

Found this video on Youtube of Wishbone Ash from 1971. The bass player plays a 4001.

What a wonderful band.... he was more noted for playing a Thunderbird, but nice to see him using a 4001 to great effect. I saw them right around that time in Nottingham, opening for Mott the Hoople. Seared in my memory..... is that clip from the Old Grey Whistle Test?

I could smell a slight sweetness in the air.....

Reminds me of seeing them in Chicago's Aragon Ballroom in the early 70s - I remember Dec 72/Jan 73 but the Aragon website says Jan 20, 1974 - but I was in Arizona from Aug 73-Mar 74. Jan 20, 1973 would have been right......

Anyway, I got lost in old clips for about a half hour there, thanks!

Man I had forgotten he used to use a RIC sometimes. Great footage. Thanks!

Thanks for the link, Kris. I'd completely forgotten about Wishbone Ash, so I dragged out some old vinyl yesterday.... brought back some wonderful memories! Image

Look carefully and you will see that it is a 21 fretter. Martin played it all the time before he got the T'bird

David, I was one of Mott's sound crew at that gig!

Peter - what a small world!

Have we had this conversation before, or am I just having a senior moment?
