Rickenbacker Heaven
Most dining rooms have stuffy furniture - mine has my Ric's, amp, and effect pedals. I have really honed in the sound of my rig - Fender Hot Rod Deluxe, JangleBox, Ibanez TS-9 tube screamer, Boss chorus & delay pedals. I rotate regularly between my three Ric guitars - 330 MG, 360 JG, and 360-12VP FG. All three are full, chimey, and dreamy sounding - the notes just pop out in that springy and jingly Rickenbacker way. A little alcohol mixed in there, and the sound really starts to leap off of the strings. All of my friends are really impressed with the sound, and they all dig the Ric's, but interestingly, no one seems interested in owning one. They all covet Les Pauls, Strats, and PRS guitars. While I find their lack of obsession a bit surprising, and annoying, I think, in the end, the fact that none of my friends have one, or seem to want one, is more of a blessing, isn't it ? Not only do I have an aresenal of guitars that suit my songwriting and playing style, not only do I have the snazziest looking guitars on the planet, not only have I honed in a sound with my rig that justifies naming my dining room Rickenbacker Heaven, but no one else I know even has a Ric. I guess that's part of what makes them so special.
