I Saw "Love"... 4001s mistake!!

Post by johnashfield »

So I went to Las Vegas over Christmas, and got in to see "Love".

The entrance to the theater (in the Mirage) is very swinging 60's/carnabby st./austin powers, but also very fun, and unlike the other bright light neon, more "Vegas-y" sort of look that everything else in the city has.

I waited in the stand-by line, and my better half and I got great seats.

Very clever staging, fun Cirque dancing and costumes.

I don't want to ruin anyone else's experience so I won't post any spoilers.

EXCEPT for the 4001s mistake...

On a scrim there is shown a film of the beatles talking in silouette. McCartney has the ricky, but the headstock is not upside down, it's just the other way, a la a new lefty ricky, just a mirror image.

It was entertaining and fun, the surround sound didn't blow me away like I thought it would, the mash ups were cool, though I don't see myself playing the "love" cd more than once or twice.

I also saw Penn & Teller who were amazing.
Happy New Year!

No way! I saw the 10:30 show on the 27th!

I also went to a big guitar shop the next day. Too bad I didn't hit the slots beforehand!

I drove through Vegas on the 26th on the way to San Diego, and the layer of smog over the city looked worse than a nuclear haze from a science fiction movie.

I do want to see LOVE sometime in the Winter though, because I will never set foot in Vegas when its hot, ever again.

The Beatles stayed at the Sahara on August 19, 1964. Since my daughter's birthday is Aug. 19 (1977, the day they buried Elvis), and since we stayed there too, we just had to go up and touch the door to that room. I know, it's probably been changed since then, but what the hell.

I didn't think I'd listen to the Love CD very often, but it's in the car, and listened to every time I go for a drive!
