I think even if it's free, it's still distribution, so that's bad.

I saw a CD display in a gas station a few years back that had burned copies of major label CDs with b/w slipsheets printed out of MS Word, probably. The sign said "Buy the jewelcase for $4.99 get the CD FREE." I called the FBI and the display had vanished by my next visit.

I thought it a rather clever way to get around the issue. They were very clear that it was not a real Rick so I don't really see the big issue.
