Is still there. I'm working Vegas this next two weeks. It was there two years ago for $5500 in the RIC section. Now it's the only RIC bass in the shop and priced at $5900. Apparently, he has two LK's too that he wants $20K for. I told him he could have my LK for the bargain price of $19K.

Not much of sense of humor that man.....

Yeah, I called him once about the CS. I guess they want to keep it forever. I got my #5 in the series for only $3500. Those guys are nuts or just have no idea about the market. It is sad if you think they are in the business so to speak.

Ed Romans also has 3 Carl Wilson 12 strings which they want way too much for.

$5900 CS sounds reasonable for Ed Romans.

I actually ordered the only 4003dcm he would sell at suggested retail. He only wanted half upfront too.

Hope I get it though...

He'll probably get his price...eventually. There are always the overseas buyers that will pay his prices....and consider it a bargain!

I've bought guitars from him, regular rickenbackers, and I've always gotten a good price.

It's just the collectibles that seem a bit steep. But that's also the asking price before haggling, so who really knows?

Does he even let you haggle? The impression that I've gotten of him from everyone who's done business with him (or attempted to) has been much less than flattering. Something about abrasiveness and arrogance. Then again, I've never met him, so I can't really say anything accurate. His prices on his website are a bit crazy, if you ask me, though.

No, no haggling with him. Arogant - yes , definitely. I got my first CS for $2,700 and he pretty much sounded like I was nuts and telling him stories, but that was a while ago. Now, I just got my next CS #5 in the series for $3,500 and this is still a long way from the $5,900 he is asking. Funny thing, the longer he keeps it the mor expensive the price gets.

Does he still have all of the essays on his website, in which he explains the world and the way it works for those who will listen? I think he had a theory on there about how there were "Fender Factories" out there in some third world country, cranking out "vintage" Fender guitars from the '50s that would be brought to the States for guitar shows, and sold at the prices that mint '50s Strats and Teles normally fetch... I may be thinking of the wrong person but I seem to recall some rather eccentric posts at his website...
