When I called Main Drag early on the 26th, the fellow on the phone gave me an "01" date code, which is proper for DG. The GBase ad was in error for the date.
They told me there was a 1/8" nick near the jackplate, but it was otherwise "mint." It arrives on Tuesday. It's a good price for ANY recent 4003, but a steal for a Desert Gold. Now if I could only find a Sea Green . . . .

Got the D.G. today. As described, there's a pea-size chip in the clear coat on the bottom edge near the jack plate, a few tiny dents and "wormtracks" in the back, but nothing to speak of. Looks great. Case in good shape, too. I'm letting it acclimate for the night in the closed case, and will set it up tomorrow.
For those of you using UPS, Main Drag sent it that way, and I got an automated call this morning from UPS telling me of its pending arrival. Nifty service.

Nice going, Paul, and a nice way to start a new year!

Here are are a couple of shots. The bass in in great condition. The ding next to the jackplate goes down to the wood, and there are a couple more tiny dings scattered about that have chipped off bits of the clearcoat. No biggie. The Bass Volume knob must have been smashed as a replacement was made, an old Bass Tone knob. I'm on the lookout for a new-condition Bass Volume knob (printed silver top).
