I have to hand it to you Bob, your watches seem to be second to none. I guess you just Gruen to them.
Life, as with music, often requires one to let go of the melody and listen to the rhythm

That's a great idea, Bob, matching your Gruen watch to your Rickenbacker. I was actually headed over to Wal-Mart tonight to get a newfangled Gruen Curvex watch for a Russian gal. Hope they have one that matches blue eyes and blonde hair. Gold with leather bracelet, perhaps?
She might not like my own personal hair matching color..........stainless steel gray with luminous dial.
BTW, wasn't the Gruen Curvex the watch worn by Bogart when he lit Bacall's cigarette in Casablanca? Great style there, Bob! Suitable for all Rickenbacker events.

Unless any of you think old Gruen watches are "all American" like a Rickenbacker, it was common practice for Gruen to import Swiss movements and install them in American cases. Therefore, the new Gruen watches are not that far off the mark. Gruen would still be doing the same if they were making watches in this country, and they would probably be Swiss movements as they often were in the past. I bought a gold ladie's Curvex with brown Italian leather watchband and quick release clasp. Simple, classic, and elegant (with quartz movement). Goes well with the Susanna Hoffs Signature Rickenbacker.
Omega makes the best automatic winding analog watch movement. It's a new design and it's patented. Would somebody look at the Omega schematic and explain to me how that thing works? Like Rickenbacker, Omega can stay in business by being different from everybody else and building to a high standard. Both are neither the cheapest nor most expensive. James Bond wears an Omega, but would he play a Rickenbacker??? (I say he's a RIC 6XX series kind of secret agent).
I'm a Citizen Eco-Drive diver's watch kind of guy myself, Bob. It goes well with Dakotas and Laredos because it gives lots of play for what you pay. I can't stand to have my watch battery go dead, and analogs keep lousy time and quit on you if you don't wear them daily.
The best watch I ever saw is the YES watch available at Sporty's Pilot Shop. Somebody FINALLY made a watch that really tells you what you need to know at a glance. I like the little marker on the dial that tells you when the bars close
, and the fact that it can instantly program to about 500 cities around the world. Killer watch, dude!!! It would look good on Dusty Hill while he plays Sharp Dressed Man on my Jetglo 4004 Laredo bass.
