Mark/Lyle,

Actually, "Bulldog" was recorded in mid-February, literally the day before the Beatles flew out to India. John was still "with" Cynthia at the time, but he had already met Yoko and was clearly already thinking about her, as evidenced by the postcards he began sending her almost as soon as they landed in India.

And, yes, Emerick describes it not only as a very happy session, but, in his opinion, the very last time the four of them seemed to enjoy each other's company in the studio. You can really see the "up" atmosphere -- not faked -- in the video, which makes it a real joy to watch.

Mr Campbell seems to have integrated into the group rather nicely at this point.
Listen to that sustain!

J.W. and David,
and John plays the Casino at 0:46.
The solo is probably the Casino.

There are some outttakes from White Album sessions where the fabs seem to be having a good time while working together.
This is off the record

I always liked this one!
A couple interesting notes:
@ 1:25 you can see the words to Bulldog written. I first noticed this in the LM clip on Anthology.
@1:59 you see Paul's Rick peghead laying on the floor with a foot tapping very near!
@2:41 George is playing the main run on the SG.

I read that this was the first time Yoko was in the studio and John was then embarrassed at having done such a silly song. Don't know if the timing works out, but if it is true that John was embarrassed, it's a shame, because it's a great little rocker.
