Howard: Are the Searchers playing near you this month?

Ron and I are going to see if we can get the boys interested in playing "Walk In The Room" today, Peter.... does that count? Image

They are only doing New Zealand and New South Wales in January. New South Wales, Queensland and Western Australia in February. No Victoria this time! Image

We haven't started playing yet, John. It's about 11:30am Tuesday here and the 'jamming and stuff' starts around 1:00pm. The lads are out and about checking out some guitar stores at present..... wonder if Dave brought his wallet? Image

Here is the first of the photographs from today.

It was 41 degrees celcius (105 degrees F) in Melbourne today - fortunately the venue was air-conditioned. Apologies for the small photo....I'm doing this in the rush before dinner....

Left to right: Mark Bailey, Joe Naccarata, Darren Trott, Howard Bishop, Dave Pascoe, Greg Rahilly, Ron Viney and Frank Naccarata.

Lots of fun had by all and 27 Rickenbackers on display Image

More photos tomorrow!

Here are some more photos from this afternoon's jam session (ala Kenny Howes) and our show'n'tell guitar showroom. We even rolled out the red carpet for Mr Pascoe's benefit.

Here's Dave Pascoe pretending to be Keith Moon, and Frank Naccarata with Howard's 4003FG

Frank has switched to my '75 4000JG with Howard and Ron Viney trading licks.

The basses - my '72 4001FG, '75 4000JG and '75 4000CS (thanks Harry and Mark! - I love it) and Howard's '04 4003FG:-

We finished off the evening with a dinner, which was relocated to another restaurant at short notice. We've experienced very hot weather today and many parts of Melbourne were affected by power blackouts caused by bushfires damaging powerlines between Melbourne and Sydney. So much for forward planning!

It was really tremendous to have Frank & Joe Naccarata and Mark Bailey join us for the afternoon and evening session.

Frank has recently joined the Forum - he's on the look out for a 4003JG. It was Mark's first time meeting other Forum members face to face and we really appreciated the effort he made to travel across Melbourne to join us.

Dave and Lisa have instantly made themselves another eight Aussie friends, despite Dave embarrassing everyone with his attempts to "say g'day" Image Seriously though, Dave and Lisa have never been so far away from home and we've really enjoyed hosting them as the first INTERNATIONAL forum members to visit our shores. We hope they will be the first of many to come Down Under.

Here is the whole Aussie contingent (L to R) Darren and Robyn Trott, Frank and Joe Naccarata, Mark Bailey, Ron and Fran Viney, Lisa and Dave Pascoe, Greg and Andrea Rahilly and of course, the lovable Mr Bishop:-

Awesome day! Everyone enjoyed them selves and we coped with the heat pretty well and managed to kick out a few awesome tunes. It was an amazing sight seeing 27 Ricks in one room, i'm ashamed to say that none of them belonged to me! Though hopefully I will be adding a jetglow 4003 to the collection soon!

Here are some pictures I took, I have hosted them off site so the quality is a bit better. I'll probably post a few more later today as well.

Thanks everyone for a great day! Look forward to seeing you all again soon for another jam!

Wow! What a great day!! Many thanks to Darren for arranging the venue and dinner and of course Dave and Lisa for dropping in Down Unda! Image

Great to meet Mark, Frank and Joe and I hope it's the first of many get-togethers here in Melbourne.

I'll post some pics tonight after I've unpacked. I just hope none of my Ricks have u-shaped necks after the heat!

Special thanks to Darren for organising the entire get together, even a major power failure didn't and venue cancellation didn't phase him.

It was great to put faces to names I've seen on this forum all very nice people, (as you would expect) and to meet the guests of honour, Dave & Lisa.

It was a great day. Image
