Originally my '77 4001 had the bass volume shifted slightly off the parallel towards the line between the bass tone & the switch.

The vintage style guard I made from the RIC template has all four knobs on parallel lines, but offset, with the volume knobs set more toward the neck than the tone knobs.

Okay, since both Bob and Jim are right, a tie-breaker is called for. A March '73 would have a 1st version treble high-gain sporting round slot head screws for polepieces and a large magnet. True or false?
