Uh...

You've heard me call a certain "look" in basses a "Hobbit" bass.

Well, I nominate this as an "earwig"-category guitar.

Hmm... Too bad my wife is in Ukraine right now. I sure would like to know what they say about that counterfeit Rick.

I look at this Fender Jeff Beck Esquire from Musician's Friend that's priced @ $10.5K and then I look at this Nash built 50's Esquire-Beckola Ltd from MusicToyz that's priced @ $2K.

For the life of me, I can't figure out the $8,500 difference between the two.

Just for the record, I wouldn't buy either because if my guitars are to be reliced, I want it to be done naturally by my hands.

Thanks, Sheena. I believe the term you're looking for is either "through neck" or "set neck".

How about this one? I wouldn't call it pretty (but it's a matter of taste, of course...)

Yes, "set neck", exactly. Thanks, Sergio.

This is a knock-off of the classic Yamaha "Silent Guitar", which is a really nice idea and quite elegant to look at. It is comfortable to play, too.

But this thing is a monument to gilding the lily--taking a basically minimalist design exercise and painting it ketchup red and mustard yellow, and putting in those horrid fingernail clipping fret markers, so that the WHOLE DAMNED THING SHOUTS AT YOU...
