OK, I put my bid in on the AG (a gorgeous specimen and already above his reserve) at $1224, put a placeholder on the 77 too. I don't expect to get either one though, since my funds are being concentrated on another 4001 elsewhere right now

Do unto others as you would have them do unto you, and sit in with the band whenever you can, to keep your chops up!

Hands off! I MEAN it
Play nice and help me keep the price down, and you can come over afterwards and play it anytime you want through a pair of 1969 blue-line SVTs and four stacks of SVT and V4-B cabs.....

No competition from me, man - go get 'er!
And once you've gotten her, make sure you bring her to M.A.R.F. so we can all have a turn on her!

Whichever it is, it is absolutely stunningly gorgeous, Kris!!!
With the right amount of meditation and chemicals, couldn't be both??
All kidding aside, as an example I know for a fact that Rick has four distinctly different shades of burgundyglo, from one so dark as to look black unless the sun hits it very brightly, to one that looks lighter than candy apple red, depending on which year you bought your 4001 bass. My March 1971 KC021 was the darkest, and a 1977 4001 I saw was very much a blush wine light shade. Maybe the same is true of these two colors AG and Walnut in differing years?

Another beauty or two:
I understand that a big part of which finish it is depends on whether it is a gloss or a matte finish. FWIW, the one AG that I saw up-close recently was very glossy. ...
