PAUL & RINGO IN EARLY BEATLES COSTUMES?

Post by crosbyguy »

I've recently harbored a silly desire to see Paul and Ringo (once more just for fun) assume their 1964 appearance, perhaps for a photo shoot or for a charity event. You know, comb their hair down and wear the suits and boots. Ringo'd have to shave his beard. I wonder just how much they'd still look like our 'Fabs'.

Ringo dosen't have his hair long enough to do that anymore. Plus he's lost some of it in the back too. Paul did the Beatle retro look in the Coming Up video in early 1980. You'll probably never see him do that again, given his age. It kind of make me feel a little old.
I recently went back to playing a Rickenbacker bass. Its like meeting an old friend again

Heck, it'd only take a couple of months for Ringo to grow it out enough for bangs. Their hair really wasnt that long in '64. And for this purpose, it wouldnt really matter if he was balding in the back (assuming you mean the upper portion). Yes, I know Paul did it 27 years ago, but I mean in the present! Not that it's going to happen- It'd just be fun to see. Same with Brian Wilson.

Photoshop was invented for just this purpose.

Wasn't it?

You'd never get Ringo to take off his sunglasses. I haven't seen a picture of him without them in years.

Look closely at which musicians Paul parodies in this video. It's also the only time we see him play a right handed guitar.

They all kind of did it for one of the Sullivan clips...was it the "Hello Goodbye" video?

Ringo sorta did this in the early 80's during the opening skit of the Saturday Night Live show he hosted. They were auctioning off old memorabilia, and they rolled Ringo out strapped to a dolly wearing a suedo collar-less suit.

I used to assume that the "50's" guitar player in the "Coming Up" video was supposed to be Buddy Holly, since Paul is such a fan. But, given the conspicuously red Strat and the squarish glasses, I'm thinking it's supposed to be Hank Marvin of the Shadows, who were huge in England at about the same time.Image

He looks almost exactly like Hank Marvin in that video. I'm thinking if it was to be Buddy Holly, he would have had a pompadour wig, sunburst strat and worn the guitar lower.

Hank Marvin it is. He also impersonated the keyboard player from the Sparks. (Is that how they spell it?)

I thought the long hair and japanese t-shirt guy was supposed to be a heavy metal bassist, maybe geezer butler?

Cool vid, wondering who's the bearded drummer he's impersonating (Doug Clifford from Creedence, perhaps?..)
