Any Ampeg amp users?

My Ampeg PortaBass Rig and 4008CS. Remember that scene at the beginning of Back to the Future when Michael J. Fox plugs his guitar in? Ya...it's kinda like that.

Ampeg SVT Classic and a 410HLF here. With the Master Volume at 9 O'clock it'll make anyone on any floor of my house wish for earplugs.

I don't know how some of you guys do it!

Jeff, both cabs are the same but they came from different production runs so they each have the same Neodynium speakers but with different dust caps. The frequency response of the 12's goes down to 40HZ which is essential for the B string on a 5 string. Each cab also has a horn in it with an L pad. The whole rig,minus the rack case and Furman power conditioner, weigh less than 100 lbs. The amp puts out 800 watts and is extremely quiet....except when I play it in my living room!

Rob, looks reasonable to me.

Hey Pete, I'll race your Volvo, my Buick has a detuned LT-1 Corvette 350 in it from the factory with dual exhausts. You don't even feel the cabs when they're in it. Even though it weighs a ton it's surprised a few kids who have tried to blow off that big old "slow" station wagon at lights.

Ive had the same with the Volvo.Ok it wont do 150mph but she takes off like a rocket up to 60mph leaving the boy racers stirring porridge with their gearstick. Funnily enough I had the same experience with the Volvo B10M double decker bus but that was governed down to 55mph. I prefer a 60s Leyland PD2 back loader double decker with crash gear box for that retro feel... like my Rick basses!

Stupid question, but here goes...

I purchased a used AMPEG B2R head and and a BSE-410HLF speaker from different sellers.

The fellow who sold me the 410, stated that I couldn't use a standard 1/4" cable to power the speaker. I went to the Ampeg site and found this....

"Q10) Can I use an instrument cable (shielded) to connect my amp to my speakers?
A) No. Using instrument cable to hook up your speakers can cause intermittent power loss, cause your amp to oscillate and damage the amp and/or your speakers. Please use 18 gauge cable or heavier (16, 14, or 12)."

That being said, any suggestions on what brand or type of cable I should use? Would a MONSTER CABLE do the trick? Any input would be greatly appreciated! Thanks!

Monster speaker cable should work. That's what I use between my SVT-CL and my 410HLF. Not sure what gauge it is.

you just need to make sure it says "speaker cable" on it.
