I would guess that maybe "animal glue" was perhaps the standard back then. It could be even now, who knows?

I guess every body will probably own some sort of Violin bass before long if they want too. The Icon has run the prices of the Rogue and Turser down to 199. I think they may go as low as 179 before they level off.
Makes you wonder if they will all go the way of the Sixties Violin basses. The Icon's seem to have caught up with the holiday rush on them too as they are back in the stores now.

I've been looking for the Icon bass in stores (out of curiosity more than a need to buy one... so far), but I can't seem to find one in Houston. Does anyone know of a dealer list? Or are they only available online? Thanks!

Woo-hoo! Southpaw Guitars! I bought my (right-handed) 4005 from Jimmy Duncan back around 1984 or '85! I'll definitely stop by this week. Thanks!

David, primarily it is baseball lingo. Most ballparks are designed where the batter faces the east to avoid sunlight during a day game. A left-handed pitcher then would be facing south, thus, southpaw. Who came up with it? Who knows.

Red Barber, I'll wager.

The Rogue is back up to 229. I'm a bit surprized that the Rogue is up and the Turser still down considering that the Turser has the better looking burst even better than the Icon for sure.
I will say one good thing about the Rogue, it is the loudest of the five different basses that I own.

This is an old Hofner thread, but with the Rogue mentions I thought it might be a decent fit. I decided to do some sluething and it appears that Un Sung of South Korea makes the Rogue model name, which I've read is a Musician's Friend house brand.

Here is their website. This bass looks a lot like the one I've got and I found the "UVB580" model name interesting (I think the Rogue is VB-100):

Click on Hollow Body under "Bass".

Sorry if I'm repeating something already mentioned, but I thought it was worth it. Some have thought it was another industrial company (Sungbo), but they may only be a distributor.

My guess is that they also made my Brice Hofner copy. They look so similar. The Brice is a pretty good little bass considering what I paid for it. :)
