Beautiful Autumnglo on bay
A perfect example of the semimatte finish on this near-mint instrument:

I saw one like this years ago at a pawn shop I was doing pest control for. I asked the guy if he had any basses that were nice on pawn but not for sale yet. He showed me one like this and I liked it but didnt know what to think of it as I had never seen the color before. The owner must have paid his money as it never went up for sale. I'd love one like this but the prices are too rich for me at this time. Someone is going to get a cool bass.

Imagine a PW Comstock acoustic jumbo in a matte Autumnglo, or darker. Yes.

I just won this auction and imagine my surprise to see it already has a little thread of its own! I'm sure that I overpaid a bit, but it is pretty much exactly what I wanted in my first Rick (and looks to be in fantastic condition).
I knew this one was right when I went to a local store and played 4 or 5 Ricks (1 new, the rest 70s-era) and none of them could force this one out of my head. (The fact that they were in worse condition and had the same asking price didn't help either.)
I've seen in other threads people talking about leaving the bass in its box for a day or two post-shipping -- is this something I should do? It's cold as all hell here in Chicago, though it might warm all the way up to 20 by the end of the week when it should be shipped!

Jake, congratulations. You didn't pay too much. If you ever needed money and decided to sell, you'd get it all back and more, just by posting to this forum. Just a gorgeous finish on it, and from what I've read, these finishes seldom hold up this well for so long. Nice catch!
