July 1961 wife, here.
Okay, now that we've cleared that Image, here's my November '70 21 fretter again, Elys...
Sorry...Image

Sergio,

November '70 is close enough to my wife's late Sept '70 birthday! Does that mean I win!Image

I'd love to see that maple in person! Looks nice!

Sérgio, it plucks my heart strings in the most harsh and painful fashion to see this bass, this sweet lady, laid out like this, yearning for my gentle touch, speaking to me across the vast Atlantic Ocean, sweet sweet torture. I count the days, the hours, the minutes, until she is mine.......

Since I married someone much younger than myself, I must honestly admit to a Sept 1969 model wife.

But Sérgio, now I have found my true love, my future betrothed, and she is a November 1970 Image

Who needs 21 frets, anyway? You guys never learned to bend strings?

I'd love to find a July with checkered binding, if I recall that's the one with the hipshot tuners.(I think).

Here's the July 73 I was originally referring to. Here she is being very British and hoisting her pint(she's from Lancashire). I think I've talked her into leaving that nice weather over there and staying in Florida for a while. Image

Jeff: That's a nice bass! How do the hipshot light tuners look from behind? I thought of replacing the Grovers on my "sister", but they work amazingly well, at least better than the 1975 onwards used Schaller BMC chrome open back machine heads. However the new 4003 tuners(about 1994 onwards) with Ric engraved base plate have an additional spring washer in them that makes them now work perfect.

Here's what they look like on a five string conversion, they are one of the best tuners and the lightest.

Hey! That's an expertly done modification to be sure. Too bad I'm not fond of 5 stringers, otherwise that's how I'd mod a 4 string Rick. Nice.
