Definitely a pro style mod, Mark! Well done!
I may be putting those ultra lites on my '72 someday. I just can't get into the Grovers. Just wish they looked more classic.

What is the difference in placing the 3 key left or right on the headstock, any effect on the sound, set up, string tension?

I have played many 5 string basses ... some have 5 in a row, some are 4+1, some a 3+2, and some are 2+3 ... I think it all boils down to where is there room for the tuners in the headstock ...
