I think it was I who turned Ted and some others onto the QL stand, after I posted these picks.
Both the top and bottom holders are some sort of soft plastic/rubber compound that grips very well so thinner instruments won't go sliding around on it. It is built much better than the Rockstand and folds fairly flat for storage or transport and has nice casters on it.

Jeffrey, it was your pic and endorsement of the Quiklok that got me to buy one. I just got the 5 guitar stand last week from Ebay for $83.00 shipped. I had a Warwick Rockstand and also found the foam collapsing around the square tubing and putting my basses at risk of chipping where they made contact with the stand. The QuikLok is just the best designed multi stand I've seen...and it has wheels too!
Where to start? Ok, here:
"Thanks to Ben, Eric (for paint), Fred (who set it up and test-played it), Peter (who did the final detailing) and everyone else at RIC. Amazing job! "
I would like everyone to pause in a moment of silent "praise" to Rickenbacker. This man is thanking the people who built his instrument by FIRST NAME! Inconceivable!
And Jerry, that must have been exceptionally cool to be able to "take it for a ride"!
