Blackstar Questions

Post by mikeylc »

I just got a Blackstar today and was wondering what are the original parts for these basses? Mine looks like the one on the RIC website, vintage knobs, chrome bridge pu cover/black surround and chrome standard neck pu. The one on ebay has standard knobs. One on Mike Parks site has standard knobs, the other vintage knobs. The one on Parks site has a toaster and a black bridge PU cover. Anybody have a different configuration? Same?

Yes. Sorry to those who might have been bidding on it. The guy made me an offer for whatever reason that I couldn't pass up.

He made me an offer too....I just hate backroom deals. Not a bad price though.

Congrats BTW!

Mine has vintage knobs, chrome neck pickup surround, and a chrome bridge pickup cover.

The picture in the news item at the RIC site:

http://www.rickenbacker.com/news_item.asp?news_id=8&news=old

tells the story, as does the text ("...solid black knobs, reverse chrome and black hardware ...").

He casually says "I just got a Blackstar today.."

Some came with toasters the others have high gains with chrome rings. I believe the one shown in Paul Boyer's picture above is mine. It is original (I bought it in '91) It has the newer knobs and a black pickup cover (currently removed).
