A Dream, a VERY STRANGE dream....

Post by ajish4 »

Ok, now I know I REALLY need some help.

I had a strange dream last night.

My 4003FL AFG arrived at my door from UPS, BUT, in order to help RIC with some of the back log, they shipped my 4003FL AFG to me IN PIECES! It was a do it yourself RIC assembly kit!

Kinda cool, it was already painted, placed in its case and it had an instruction video with JH showing you how to assemble your bass.

All the parts were in a neat little bag, well insulated from each other so as not to cause scratching, each one was numbered and all you had to do was watch the video and assemble it.

Of course, being the handy man that I am, I had some PIECES LEFT OVER after the kit was assembled! Image

I for one am VERY CONTENT waiting for the pro's to do the assembling, all take mine assembled please...LOL!

Now you know my secret. As Jared would say, "Damn!"

I think it was Martin Luther King who once said "I had this really weird dream."
Here is where I hide my music:

Bill Cosby was a very funny fellow.

Note the tense in the above sentence.

That brings out a memory. Years ago (25-30) I gave my bass to be adjusted by my bass tech. When the bass was done and sounded a lot better, he also gave me a plastic bag with parts and said:" here, you don't need these".
I am good with my fingers and I can do it all night !

"I had some PIECES LEFT OVER after the kit was assembled!"

Are you going to list these in the "For Sale" section? Image

LOL...

Kevin,

That's a great idea, we'd probably have to double that section for my stuff alone!

Lets see....

Truss rod assembly,
Tuning peg grommets,
ETC, etc....

You do know that at one time JH did design a a build it yourself guitar kit called the Astro.

Take a look here at the Rickenbacker site, "Gallery-60's-Guitars"then look for the pic called "Astro Kit", a very young John Hall (Sporting a full head of hair) holding the Astro kit ...

Hey Jim,

I had NO IDEA. Out of curiosity, I just did a quick search and found out that it was more common than I'd have thought....

Thanks for posting that link on the RIC site, that is VERY neat indeed!

Hi Tony,
The pictures on the "Gallery" at the Ric site are really great, I've wandered through them a few times, good stuff. !!

During your dream assembly, did you come across the truss rods and say "Truss rods, we don't need no skinkin' truss rods!"?
