4004CII at Pick of the RIcks

Post by bugman »

Has anyone been to Chris's store and tried this one out? I'm interested in it but need to sell my lefty Hofner Cavern bass first. He's had it for a while and I've been surprised that it hasnt sold. Thanks!

I haven't seen this one in person but the Monty Brown finish cam be a turnoff for some. Monty also doesn't photograph well (IMO) but looks stunning in person.

MB is one of my less favorite finishes ...

The picture also doesn't show a lot of character to the maple. That may reduce the interest a bit. I like the color, but chose blueburst before the last batch of MB 4004s shipped.

I was never a fan of MB or it's predecessors, walnutglo and autumglo.

Your right Ryan, many times the character in the maple doesn't show up in pictures. I find it odd that the 4004 MB did not sell yet, but I'm sure it will. I think many people held on to their money for the 75 anniv. models, amber fireglo and blue burst.

Not my favorite either on a 4004.

I think MB looks good on a 4003. I think it needs the binding / white trim and chrome to really accent the finish.

I also prefer Monty Brown on the 4003.

I'm pretty surprised that this hasn't sold yet. It's been there for almost a year, i'd say. Not the greatest finish for a 4004 but it's certainly not ugly.

I think a monty brown 4004 would look way better as a fretless with an ebony fretboard. Very 4002-like.

There was a RIC 340 on ebay this last week and the pics that were shown were of a really good quality and the color looked great. The revolving pics on Chris's site are not the best I'm sure to judge it by. Has anyone here actually been to Pick of the Ricks and tried this particular bass?

I have. Great bass, a tad bit expensive though.
