Can't tell anything about playability, etc from that picture, but the color is just lovely! (imho, of course)

Urp!

I think the green-and-yellow burst is putrid (Sorry, Sheena!).... Kind of reminds me of those "Gecko" burst LP's that I keep seeing in the Musician's Friend catalogs. IMO, one of the ugliest guitar finishes ever, LOL!

Just goes to show, beauty is in the eye of the beholder....

Ah, the Swami is back in business!

Look at some of the other basses this dealer has, I've been eyeballing his 4000 for a long time. He has been RAVING about the sound of this bass for years. At $1800.00 not too bad I guess, but it has a P-bass route under that pick guard.

I purchased my first Alembic from this dealer. Very honest, and normally very reasonable. He's had some great RIC's in the past.

He vanished off of the radar and his old site THEBASSPALACE.com had a large selection.

As for green, it looks cool, but not for me.

That's okay, Melissa. I'm not a huge fan of purple either... Image (no offence meant - just not a fan of that color) That's, like, a matter of taste.

I purchsed a '73 4001 from the Swami a few years ago. It had some undocumented "features" and the process made me feel like he thought he was doing me a huge favour in selling me the bass. Plus it was almost impossible to get a hold of the guy. That was the end of my dealings with the swami.

Now, now girls! Image

What do you guys think, should we put Melissa and Sheena together for some mud wresting fun and see which color, green or purple, wins?

This reminds me of an episode of Babylon 5, where the Drazis were fighting to the death over purple and green scarfs!

I just don't like the Guacamoleglo, IMHO is such a disgusting color, looks like a wooden tahitian souvenir for tourists. About buying a copy, I've never done it (except my first bass when I was 15) and I don't think I'll do it, I just waited as much as necessary to buy any original instrument I have (This is just MHO)
I've turned into a kind of Dr. Rickenbackernstein, but I'm looking for hints and help

Not fighting at all, just a difference in taste as far as color choices, LOL! Image

It's okay, we'll always be Rickensisters! Image

OK- with spring break only a couple of weeks away here in Jacksonville FL, I volunteer for y'all to meet halfway at my house and settle this thing. It'll be warm by then and we can hose you down afterwards. We could have a mini confluence too since there are a couple of rick freaks down here that would be glad to help.... Image

I think the green or some variation would be nice. I seem to recall Ric once had something like that years ago late 50s?? Maybe since Apple Computers and Apple Records seem to be playing nice, Ric could set the 2008 COY as a GreenGlo to signify the cessation of hostilities between the two. Maybe this could spread to ending the fighting between political parties in this country. Starting an overflow to the nations of the world, inspiring them to coexist in harmony and peac…. Naaaahhhhh… back to subject – crummy fake – good color idea. I think I'd rather drink a beer and play some music instead of the mud-wrasslin.
