I think Will is primarily a finger style player, so I can see why a pick would seem awkward. With a pick, I play mostly downstrokes (unless it's "Heart of the Sunrise"). I'm sure most of us who have played both styles will agree that some things are easier to do with fingers, some with a pick (although a pick doesn't seem to have stopped Carol Kaye or Joe Osborn). I would not want to play Yes with fingers. I would not want to play Motown with a pick. But that's just me. Maybe Will wants that McCartney pick attack. But I think that, with the right strings (TI Flats, for example) and a suitably long first fingernail on the picking hand, a McCartney-like pick sound is obtainable on most basses. I get it every week with a Lakland 55-94, TIs and a nail.

I didn't care for the vocalist last night (though I loved his drumming), but it sure was fun to watch everyone catch all the parts.
Here is where I hide my music:

Reverb set to stun !!
I thought the drummer was great. Close your eyes and you could easily be fooled into thinking that it was a Beatles live recording.
That's pretty darn good... I would say.
